Sandbach United 1-0 Alsager Town
Alsager Town made the short journey to Sandbach in a bid to end their four match losing streak, but the hosts had other ideas.
First half
Alsager could have had an unmissable opportunity to go ahead early on against Sandbach. Luke Nicholls opted to shoot instead of squaring the ball to his teammate who was in space and Craig Ellison saved his effort.
Sandbach had the next chance of the game, as William Shawcross delivered a delightful curled ball into the box. The forward who got on the end of it took a good first touch and struck the post with a diagonal strike.
The home team had the ball in the back of the net not long after when Stantley Tatters’ shot collided with Joseph Bevan, only for the striker to score. However, the linesman raised his flag to inculcate that an offside offence had taken place.
It was Sandbach who continued to dominate throughout the first half and they had multiple opportunities to take the lead, but James made a handful of important saves.
Despite this, Sandbach did eventually take the lead in the 41st minute, as the Alsager goalkeeper was unable to prevent Bevan’s strike from finding the bottom left corner.

Second half
Sandbach continued to be top during the second half and they had a very early chance which was blasted over the bar.
James continued to keep the Bullets in the game and they were helped by one or two errors from the opposing forwards in front of goal.
Alsager did finally have a half-chance in the second half after 86 minutes when Joshua Guiver attempted a curled effort, but it was some way off target.
The hosts had the final chance of the match in stoppage time and James was forced into another excellent save.
Ultimately it did not matter for much, as Sandbach triumphed by just the one goal scored in the first half.
