Alsager Town Council is looking to get the feedback of local residents on a plan to end charges at two of the town’s car parks.
Alsager Town Council has been given the opportunity to pay Cheshire East Council to make Station Road and Well Lane car parks free to use for the next five years. This would come at a cost of £70,000 per year, which would be funded by raising council tax. For a Band D property in Alsager, council tax will rise by about £12.10 a year.
To help make a decision, Alsager Town Council has released a poll asking residents if they would be willing to pay an increased council tax to make the car parks free. There are no restrictions preventing non-residents or those who do not pay tax from answering the poll.
Hard copies of the poll are available from Alsager Civic or Alsager Town Council Offices. The closing date to provide feedback is on Sunday, October 19.
