Alsager residents concerned by plan for 10 bed HMO on congested road

Plans have been launched to convert a home in Alsager into a 10 bed shared property, but residents have one key concern.

A terraced home at 3 Audley Road could be changed into a house in multiple occupation, a property rented by people who form more than one household.

The plan would see the existing four bedroom home become a ten bed residence with a combined dining and living space and multiple bathrooms.

Small windows on the ground floor would be replaced with larger ones to match existing windows on the upstairs of the house.

HMOs are popular with young adults due to their affordability. Alsager residents have previously shared their frustrations that the new homes being built in the town are not varied enough and fail to provide for individuals.

However, there are concerns the converted building would cause a lack of space for cars on a section of the street where there is no off-street parking down one side.

Residents have until 12pm on April 24 to comment on the application. They can do so by contacting cheshireeast.gov.uk quoting 25/0784/FUL.
