The woman who died after her car collided with a fire engine has been named, as her family speak for the first time since the tragic accident.
Judy Lea was driving her Lexus NX last Friday morning when she collided with the fire engine at the junction of Close Lane and Crewe Road.
She was later pronounced dead at Royal Stoke Hospital, leaving behind her husband, three children and ‘countless’ friends.
According to Cheshire Police, Judy’s family said: “Her loss will forever leave a huge hole in our lives, and she will never be forgotten.
“Anybody who knew Judy would know how she would always be the first to help any loved one, friend or neighbour with anything they required, no matter how large or small.
“Her kind heart and nurturing nature is the reason why she is leaving behind so many loved ones, friends and family members.
As well as meaning so much to those close to her, Judy was a successful healthcare worker in optometry.
“Alongside her personal life, Judy dedicated her life to her career of Optometry,” they continued.
“Not only did she build a successful practice to care for her community, but she was also passionate about improving the quality of eye care for the public, improving diabetic eye care services in her local area and was also instrumental in training thousands of Optometrists throughout her career.
“Words cannot truly capture the devastating loss that we as her family and friends are currently experiencing, as we all know we have lost a very special soul.”
An investigation into the crash is ongoing and the police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Any witnesses to the crash who have not already spoken to police, or anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage has been asked to contact Cheshire Police and can do so by clicking here or by calling 101, quoting IML-2057282.
