Alsager Town and AFC Alsager in action on non-league day

Non-league day has almost arrived and Alsager has two football matches taking place this Saturday at Alsager Sports Hub and Wood Park.

Established in 2010, non-league day provides a platform for clubs to promote the importance of affordable volunteer-led community football. As well as this, it gives football fans across the country the chance to show support for their local non-league side.

Both AFC Alsager and Alsager Town are playing at home on Saturday, March 22, the date of this year’s non-league day.

AFC Alsager

The Swans’ first team currently sit third in the Staffordshire County Senior League Premier Division. They are 15 points behind league leaders Ball Haye Green, but with five games in hand, AFC Alsager could still challenge them for the title.

Although they suffered a defeat in their most recent home fixture, AFC Alsager recorded an impressive 5-2 victory last week against Lichfield Reserves. This was their 15th league win of the season in 23 matches.

Their next opponents, FC 41, have lost all 25 of their league matches during the current campaign and have a shocking goal difference of -108. Anything other than a one-sided win for the home team is highly unlikely.

Alsager Town

The Bullets got off to a flying start in the NWCFL First Division South, but have had to deal with many comings and goings including the departure of their co-managers and most of their first-team squad.

Despite their struggle, Alsager Town are one point off the promotion play-offs in sixth place. However, a loss tomorrow could see them drop to eighth if other results do not go in their favour.

Their opponents are Stoke-on-Trent outfit Abbey Hulton United, who defeated Alsager 4-1 in December and are fourth in the table. Although on a positive note, they lost to 13th place Runcorn Town last weekend, so a home victory is not out of the question.
