An Alsager Town midfielder has sounded a determined message after suffering a seizure during a 2-0 defeat to Stafford Town on Saturday.
Adam Hampshire became the main talking point of Alsager’s defeat to Stafford last weekend, but not for the reason he would have hoped. The footballer who joined the Bullets last November suffered convulsions with only a few minutes left to play after taking a kick to the head.
Despite his CT scans coming back clear which led to his discharge from hospital, Hampshire suffered further seizures on Sunday evening and had to be rushed back.
Alsager Town revealed in their most recent statement that Hampshire had once again left hospital and had gone a full day without a repeat episode.
The club statement read: “Right now the most important thing is his [Adam’s] health and recovery. He’s been in the best possible hands and we’re doing everything we can to support him.
“I know how much he means to us all and I have no doubt he’ll be feeling all the love from the messages and support he’s received so far.”
Adam Hampshire offers update on his Alsager Town return
While it is not yet known when Hampshire will be back on the pitch, the former Prestwich Heys man has offered an update on his ambitions to return.
Responding to a social media post by the club, Hampshire revealed he would be back soon. He commented on another post: “Be back like I never left!”

This does not offer a definitive answer on when Hampshire will next play for Alsager, but getting back in action is clearly a priority for him.
Alsager Town need players available for play-off push
Despite enduring difficult times since Luke Goddard and Lee Duckworth left Alsager Town, the club find themselves just one point off the NWCFL First Division South play-offs.
Their next match is a home fixture for the first time in almost two months as they take on Abbey Hulton United. The Bullets were defeated 4-1 by their upcoming opponents when the sides met in December.
With only five league matches remaining before the regular season concludes, Alsager need their whole squad to play their part and they will be hoping Hampshire will be available to assist in the push to reach the play-offs.
