Two leaders of the Rode Heath Scouts Group have spent several hours removing a fallen tree which was blocking a road on the edge of Alsager.
Stuart Moseley and Dan Plant arrived at the scene just past the Wilbraham Arms pub, on Sandbach Road North, to get to work after seeing a large tree had come down.

Stuart said: “I saw a Facebook post saying the road was closed by a fallen tree and I knew that was a main route in and out of Alsager from Sandbach, especially for emergency vehicles.
“Having done tree work in the past and owning chainsaws and a Land Rover with a winch, I decided to go and see if I could assist in getting the road reopened.

“On arrival the police had closed the road because of how busy the highways were, they probably wouldn’t get to it until the next day.
The pair then began cutting the tree and removing it from the road, using Stuart’s car and the Rode Heath Scouts trailer, much to the delight of the two police officers who were able to leave the site earlier than expected.
Stuart said: “We worked from about 4pm and with the help of the police who brushed and raked the road we had it open at about 9:30pm, even though Highways still hadn’t arrived.
Conveniently, Stuart already had the scout group’s trailer at his house as they were meant to begin building a sleigh for the Rode Heath Santa Tour on December 15.
He gave his thanks to a resident for offering the hard-working duo cups of tea throughout the evening.

Another tree which fell, on Edward’s Way, was removed by residents who gave up their time to restore access to the street.
As well as fallen trees, Alsager experienced problems including flooded roads and power outages due to the impact of Storm Darragh. According to the Met Office the yellow wind warning will no longer be active by 6pm tonight.
