Latif’s, an Indian restaurant on Crewe Road, has questioned the integrity of a customer, who said they found a plaster in their meal.
The customer made an anonymous post earlier today on local Facebook group, Alsager Community and a Tripadvisor review, with a photo showing the plaster, which had allegedly been deep fried in an onion bhaji.
They said they were ‘absolutely disgusted’ and would never visit the restaurant again and that the incident had spoiled a birthday dinner.
But Latif’s raised doubts over the customer’s honesty, suggesting they may have been trying to sabotage the business.

The Indian eatery released a statement shortly after 5pm which said: “At Latif’s Restaurant, customer satisfaction and food safety are our top priorities. Recently, we received a complaint from a customer who claimed to have found a plaster in an onion bhaji from their takeout order. We take all feedback very seriously, so we promptly issued a full refund and offered our sincerest apology.
“We would like to clarify some important details regarding this incident. Our first aid kit contains only blue plasters. Moreover, when the customer returned the order, everything inside the bag remained exactly as it was originally packed, making it unusual that only one box was opened while the rest of the items were untouched.
“Furthermore, the plaster in question does not align with the types we use in our restaurant, raising further questions about how it ended up in the food. We are deeply concerned that this incident may be an attempt to harm our restaurant’s reputation, especially considering our established standing in the community.”
Latif’s said it did not want to speculate on the intentions behind the Facebook post, but found the situation troubling. They promised to continue their commitment to ‘rigorous’ hygiene and safety standards.
The company was given a food hygiene rating of four (good) when inspected in January this year. Food handling was found to be generally satisfactory, while the cleanliness of the building and the management of food safety were rated as good.
Latif’s’ average rating on Tripadvisor is four and a half out of five, based on nearly 600 reviews and 4.2 stars on Google, based on just over 300 reviews.
