Alsager Town 3-2 Stafford Town
Alsager Town faced Stafford Town in a top of the table clash at Wood Park. The Bullets went into the match in fine form, having won their first four league matches, while Stafford were unbeaten on 10 points.
The first half was an even contest with both sides having chances. Stafford opened the scoring from the penalty spot when Kaylan Wilkinson brought down the attacker.
Alsager should have equalised soon after the opener, but Lewis Martin failed to convert a close range effort, which Adam Jenkins did well to save.

But the Bullets did draw level moments later when they struck back through Jeannny Leblanc-akpo. Ash Leather’s cross was punched away by the Stafford keeper, but Alsager’s number 11 controlled the ball well and fired the ball into the right corner of the net.

Alsager continued to look threatening after scoring their goal, but 1-1 at half time was a fair reflection of how the half played out.

The Bullets started the second half lively, quickly taking the lead for the first time. Leather took a free kick which found Leblanc-akpo, whose deflected through ball fell to Martin, who finished from close range to score his first goal for the club.

Lyons made an important save to keep Alsager in front, but the Bullets lost their lead when they conceded from a second penalty. Jayden Hunter fired the ball high, beating Lyons, to make it 2-2.
But it was Alsager who claimed the three points and kept up their 100 percent win record, when an unmarked Ash Leather scored a header from a perfect cross.

Stafford had a lot of set pieces throughout the match, but failed to capitalise on their free kicks and corners, while Alsager scored three quality goals as Ash Leather stole the show once again.
