Scottish Power will install a new cable route to power up the Crewe Road warehouses which have been empty for well over a year.

The developer said: “It has been extremely frustrating to have new buildings sat empty with no power for the past 18 months. Scottish Power are now confident that their new proposed cable route and new primary substation shall provide power to this site in 2025.”

Scottish Power are hopeful the warehouses will be in use next year.

They said: “A new cable route is now being investigated by Scottish Power with the intention of bringing power to the site in 2025, once the new primary substation is built. We currently await planning permission from Cheshire East Council to build a small brick primary substation on the site. If planning permission is granted, this will be built in July-December this year.”

The warehouses faced objections when they were first proposed including from local MP Fiona Bruce, the Crewe Action Group, Alsager Town Council and over 200 residents.
