Alsager Town FC chairman Terry Greer said he was delighted to have Luke Goddard take charge of the Bullets.
Goddard was announced as Alsager’s new head coach earlier this month after Dean Jones and Dom Johnson left to manage Winsford United.
He had success in his previous role as manager of Whitchurch Alport, leading the side to Step 5.
Alsager supporters will be hopeful that Goddard can repeat this achievement at his new club.
Mr Greer revealed that the club had not expected to get someone as qualified as Goddard to lead the team.
He said: “I’m surprised that we got somebody of his calibre. We had quite a few applications, but his was the standout one.”

Goddard described his new club as huge underdogs – a comment which Mr Greer believed was fair because the Bullets have a full squad rebuild ahead of them.
Mr Greer branded the idea of promotion in Goddard’s first season as optimistic and insisted that a top ten finish would be a successful season for the club.
But he was hopeful that Alsager would keep improving, which could lead to increased attendances at matches.
He said: I’m disappointed that we don’t get more local people supporting the club. But I know at Whitchurch, when Luke first went, they were getting 40 or 50 and eventually they were getting 250 and taking a hundred away with them.”
“If we can repeat that here, that would be fantastic.”
The Bullets begin their pre-season preparations on July 6 with a friendly match against Congleton Town at Wood Park.
