The Vault: Alsager Town Council rejects application to extend opening hours

The Vault will not be allowed to open longer than its current 11pm closing time. The council is concerned the Asian cuisine is becoming a public house rather than a restaurant.

The application to open for longer was submitted on January 24 and rejected last month at a council meeting.

The council is concerned that those who live nearby will be impacted if the restaurant stays open later.

It noted that the proposed opening times would not be in line with other businesses in part residential areas.

Local residents were worried they would be disturbed and that levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in the area would increase when a similar application was submitted in 2022.

This is not the only time the Vault has been at the centre of controversy.

The restaurant had to close for a short time last year to demolish its fully enclosed front extension.

The extension was only approved to be a veranda and it was closer to the pavement than the council allowed.
