Alsager Town held to 3-3 draw

FT

Alsager Town 3  Woolley (12, 37) Pope (20)

Abbey Hey 3

There was nothing to separate the Bullets from the visitors as they contested a 6-goal thriller.

Abbey Hey took an early lead but it did not take long for Alsager to fire back through striker Jack Woolley.

Less than 10 minutes later Ollie Pope met a cross and put the ball in the net to make it 2-1.

An own goal saw Abbey Hey draw level, but Woolley scored his second to restore the Bullets’ lead.

Abbey Hey fought back once more, equalising just minutes before half time.

The second half was less eventful. The Bullets thought they’d taken the lead, but the goal was ruled out for a handball.

Both sides had chances to win it but in the end the points were shared.

A win for Barnton over Stafford Town means Alsager fall one position to 11th in the NWCFL First Division South.

While their next league fixture is not until Boxing Day, the Bullets will be hoping to return to winning ways as they face Cheadle Town next Saturday in a cup tie at Wood Park.
